We are non-profit organisation of ASHNA Inc.

History

Prior to 1991 there was no national professional organisation to advocate on behalf of nurses working in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

The Australasian Sexual Health Nurses Association (ASHNA) resulted form the need for such a professional organisation, and at an open meeting in November 1991 ASHNA was formed.

Aims

The expressed aims of ASHNA are:

  • Promote sexual and reproductive health nursing as a professional specialty

  • Advance the standards and scope of sexual and reproductive health nursing practice

  • Facilitate the exchange of professional information

  • Ensure effective communication and networking in the specialty

  • Act as the representatives of the Australasian Sexual and Reproductive Health Nurses in discussions with government and non government bodies at the State, Territory and Federal level
